Miss Kicki plot
Kicki has returned to Sweden after several years abroad. Her 17-year-old son Viktor has since been raised by her grandmother and has only a casual relationship with his mother. In an effort to get closer to her son again, Kicki invites her son on a vacation in Taiwan. But apparently Kicki also has some kind of hidden agenda, because in Taipei is also the house of a Taiwanese businessman with whom she has been having an internet romance for a while. Viktor hopes to meet his father whom he has never seen, but his mother's thoughts are elsewhere. As a result, conflicts arise between the two and when Viktor also introduces his Taiwanese friend Didi to his mother, the gulf between the two only widens.

I thought I had seen more of Pernilla August, but I hadn't, because apart from a few small roles in big films I haven't seen it. It must have been the excellent Svinalängorna (Film, 2010) where she sat in the director's chair.
Here as an actress I see her again in a flat film. At first I didn't understand the plot well in which she as a mother takes her son, whom she barely knows, on a trip. It then all remains very tame and if you expect them to seek rapprochement with each other, you will be disappointed. Everyone just does their own thing. It leads to a soulless film without body. A number of subplots do not remedy this either.
A bit simple, not very complex, not very challenging either. Still elements that I expect to find in a quality drama. It meanders along without more. Taiwan may be a nice outing and this film is not a real punishment, but it does not rise above the ground level. Too bad.
