Once upon a time, a very long time ago, I saw a film by Constance Bennett in a cold and damp club room with some overenthusiastic film fans. I remember a beautiful film, but I have forgotten the title over the years. Judging by the IMDb synopsis, it must have been What Price Hollywood? (1932). Unfortunately, my search on the internet for this film turned up nothing.

What I did come across was another hit by Constance Bennett, ie Topper. A charming oldie about a bank manager (Roland Young) and a deceased couple, who are not allowed to enter heaven because they have never done a good deed. A nice comedy with for that time (the computer had yet to be invented!) quite nice special effects and excellent acting, especially from Roland Young. He received an Oscar for best supporting actor at the time, but all things considered, he plays the leading role. Only Cary Grant and certainly Constance Bennett (the prettiest of the three charming Bennett sisters) were much better known to the general public at the time, which is why they were given the leading role on the bill.

I had a good time with Topper, but I haven't found What Price Hollywood? yet. Can someone help me?

Good film in which the life of a boring banker is turned upside down by a flamboyant dead couple. A well-developed comedy with entertaining scenes. In terms of pace, the film has not quite stood the test of time. This is in contrast to the special effects, which are still fine with it. A small 3.5 stars.

Whether or not they are allowed to go to heaven is never really made clear , the film is otherwise lighthearted with nice jokes , a stiff bank manager who secretly dreams of being able to jump out of the band once in a while

and that produces some fairly funny moments .

The special effects are very well done, especially for that time.
