The Runaround plot
Private detective Eddie J. Kildane and his former employer Louis Prentiss are competitors. However, both are hired by the millionaire Norman Hampton. Hampton informs the detectives about his daughter Penelope, who has run away from home to get married. He wants his daughter back unmarried. The search stretches from New York City to San Francisco and Kildane is the first to find Penelope. Penelope, accompanied by Kildane and Prentiss, is returned to her father. The return journey turns out to be more difficult than expected. Especially for Kildane, who has fallen in love with Penelope and is trying to hide it.
