La Terre de la Folie plot

In the sparsely populated area where Luc Moullet lives, the French part of the Southern Alps, the number of murders and suicides is extremely high. Moullet looks for the causes of these often irrational actions. On a map he points out the “pentagon of madness”: five villages centered around Digne. Against picturesque backgrounds, he interviews the residents about the crimes of the past century. Their stories are sober, even if they are personally involved, as if it were folklore rather than reality.
