Submarino plot
"Two brothers meet at their mother's funeral, each in his way on a path of self-destruction, both haunted by a tragedy in their youth."
The story of two estranged brothers who had a gloomy childhood. They were separated at a young age by a tragedy that split their entire family. Today, Nick's abusive life is steeped in alcohol as his younger brother, a single parent, struggles as a junkie to give his son a better life. Their paths cross and make a confrontation inevitable, but is salvation still possible?

This one was on TV and I gave it a try. This is certainly not the most cheerful film, but the film knows how to captivate. The cast did a great job and came across convincingly.
It was a bit of a rough start, but in the end I thought it was worth watching.

Very raw grim print of an underprivileged family where two young brothers take care of their baby brother while mother sweet drinks herself in the pub. Can't help but go wrong, of course. Both brothers later lose sight of each other, but even then it turns out that both have a hard time holding their own in society.
The past and the underprivileged upbringing ensures that their current lives do not follow the usual paths. One is alcoholic and aggressive, the other is a junkie who takes care of his son. Despite the hard characters and squandered opportunities that arise, I still felt sorry for both. Very realistic depiction of the events, partly due to the strong acting of the main characters. Fascinating to follow from start to finish. This is partly due to the strong editing that cleverly alternates the (separated) lives of the two brothers.
Bit of a strange subplot of the fat guy, but it does indicate how impulsive or naive vulnerable people can be (apart from the fact that everyone has to take responsibility for the actions they commit).
