The World of Tattoo Art plot

In this short documentary, Henk Schiffmacher takes us on a journey around the world: Borneo, New Zealand, Hawaii, Samoa and Japan are covered. Here we come across different forms of tattoos. Some people tattoo for protection, others believe it is necessary for a good life after death. The tattoos are also for protection against, for example, sharks and diseases. Schiffmacher has a traditional tattoo done on every nation, no matter how painful such as the Buddhist tattoo on his throat. This way we get acquainted with the art of ancient tattooing.
