Entertaining stuff, but this is mainly due to John Candy who does his best to make the meager plot a little more fun.

I have a strong feeling that there could have been more to this, the story is rather straight to the point and unfortunately has few surprises.

For John Candy enthusiasts like myself it is a nice movie to watch, but not one of his best, but Candy cannot do anything about that in this case.

Eugene Levy would have been better replaced by, say, Bill Murray or Chevy Chase!

2.5*

Mediocre film in which a police officer is forced to take a job as a security guard. A rather thin story that matters little else. The humor is on the bland and stupid side, but this typical 80s action comedy does have a number of entertaining scenes. Fortunately it doesn't take too long and John Candy is always fun.

Haha, Candy is doing well again. His comedies are certainly not masterpieces, but they are always guaranteed an hour and a half of fun. Just less than Who's Harry Crumb? (1989) and The Great Outdoors (988) but there were some nice jokes in there. Especially those two cops who had to guard toxic waste . I don't understand why most films with him score so low here. In this one too, all sorts of things are happening at a rapid pace. Ok, the built-in crime plot doesn't mean much (a bit Beverly Hills Cop-esque) and feels like an 80s assembly line, but it's all smooth enough so that you can get on with your life completely relaxed afterwards. Big 3* from me.
