Bloodsucking Cinema plot

The documentary 'Bloodsucking Cinema' shows how it all started with the first famous vampire film, the German 'Nosferatu' from 1922 and how the genre developed afterwards with the highlights 'Dracula' with actor Bela Lugosi (1931) and the films of the British studios Hammer Film Productions. But most of the attention goes to the big vampire film hits of the past decades, such as 'The Lost Boys', 'From Dusk till Dawn', 'Underworld', 'Blade' and 'Van Helsing'. In 'Bloodsucking Cinema', the vampire film experts examine why we can't get enough of vampires: Is it a dark, erotically charged fascination with drinking other people's blood? Or is it because vampires can be forever young and sexy? Both probably, but maybe vampires also help us reconcile with our own mortality. After all, no one wants to live forever.
