Patsy Brent is an insurance agent who specializes in people who come into contact with the law. Patsy thinks her business partner Eddie Jones has paid too much of their capital to Steve Morgan. Eddie hopes that this will attract a wealthier clientele. With the insurance money paid through Eddie, Steve, who is suspected of embezzling money from his employer, has paid his bail, among other things, and he has been missing since. While searching for Steve, Patsy nearly stumbles across the dead body of John Clark, Steve's ex-boss. Patsy manages to track Steve down to a remote mountain cabin. Steve manages to convince Patsy of his innocence. Together they investigate Morgan's case further.
