Pesce tries.

I really liked part 1 then, this second part is nice but Pesce clearly doesn't have the talent, or just lacks the budget. Because this second part is mainly a cash-in on the success of the first. But that doesn't mean they don't try their best.

Visually it is somewhat different. A lot of messing around, that's for sure. The camera is rarely straight, enough filters, speed-ups and whatnot. The whole box of tricks is opened. Sometimes with results, sometimes it looks a bit amateurish.

Acting is less and the soundtrack also sounds a bit cheap, but in the end the characters are funny and over the top enough and the action is also quite good. A clear mindless film and not completely separate from the dollar signs in the eyes of the producer, but it is entertaining and does not last too long. Sometimes that's just enough.

Basically more or less the same movie as part 1, including bizarre brothers, sexy assassin, excessive blood and bullets, and a lot of characters who are all allowed to go crazy. So the formula is known and the actors are a bit less (not really big names either), but the film is nice and short, the pace is high, the soundtrack is well filled again (Stooges, QOTSA, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club), the editor made good use of all the ADD tricks at his disposal, and Tommy Flanagan as Lazlo Soot is again really creepy, so hey, I did have a good time.

poor.

Part 2 but also a cheap looking remake. This sequel(?) is exactly the same as the original, in which a whole lot of hitmen and police officers clash, albeit in an over-the-top way so that it is mindless active entertainment.

This movie tries to do the same thing, but just does it worse. On all levels. The filters and tricks from the editing room are somewhat transparent and can never, ever carry a film. The action is less: just as bloody, but less inventive and not fluent in terms of pacing. And there are a lot of less talented actors around. Add to that a terrorist plot of something and nothing and then it is very clear that the film, despite a nice start, was actually already lost beforehand.
