Rock-hard action film with Vin Diesel who can carry these kinds of films just fine. Cinematographically fine and the momentum remains good. Everything is just slightly above expectations, because I was pleasantly surprised. Even after reviewing this movie.

cool action movie

Vin Diesel plays his part with conviction, one of his better movies.

I don't like the whole drama aspect, but it's still manageable.

The good and exciting action moments make the film strong, the atmosphere is also great

Mme.

Vin Diesel in a film in which he wishes to present himself a little more seriously. Today his roles are very similar; the tough brawn that works its way through the bad guys. In this case, Vin Diesel is also playing a muscle bundle working his way through the bad guys, but with a little more sentiment and realism.

More realistic because in this case the villains don't fall down one after the other and there are actually no action scenes that go way over the top. Gray keeps himself under control and lets the story take its course. It is a pity that the story has been repeated many times, because in principle there is not much in this film that many film lovers have never seen before. So it's up to the viewer to choose whether he/she likes this or not.

If A Man Apart excels at anything, it is making noise. All the action comes with quite a racket. Each explosion comes with quite a few decibels, so much that all the rawness really flies off. Fortunately it does entertain, but on the other hand, the film could have used a slightly smoother approach. A little less focus on noise and more on technology. That would have done the movie well.

Acting is not brilliant, everyone does what he or she is supposed to do and not much more. The only one that stood out to me was Olyphant, but his role is mostly the crazy side character. Diesel fills his role as expected. Not too difficult but as an action hero he does what he was made to do. All in all, the film stays on the same level all the time.

Gray can never push his territory with this film. Everything stays very within the lines. It runs pretty well and it certainly entertains, but then again there is nothing to really stand out or impressive. Nice for an evening sitting on the couch perhaps, but as a mindless film there is a bit too much content in it to work in that area.
