I don't understand the reviews

on Chuck Norris,

he has no charisma and can't act?

Well, I kind of agree with the 2nd one.

Still, he secretly remains my favorite actor

and I like to watch him.

Yes this 2nd part of Missing in action is actually

a prequel

I just found that out too

and i always found this movie so confusing

as for story,

Soon-Tek Oh is a delightfully sadistic villain

who plays his part well.

I have to imagine the story

takes place before the first Missing in action movie.

The movie has a lot of similarities

from Rambo part 2 away.

Well the action was good

and Chuck Norris never ceases to amaze me.

This prequel shows how Colonel Braddock was captured during the Vietnam War and how, after enduring various forms of mental and physical torture, he managed to escape. So the emphasis is more on torture than action, but the film benefits from better characterizations, especially in the form Steven Williams as a captain betraying his fellow soldiers and Soon-Tek Oh as a formidable (and pleasantly sadistic) villain. But no film starring Norris can rise above mediocrity, so this is one of his best films.

“You really didn't think I'd leave... without making sure you were dead?”

Just reviewed it for the 2nd time and I have to say; this was very entertaining, loved every second of it. Now it is the case that the 80s action films is one of my favorite genres, and of course films from the Canon Films stable should not be missing.

Chuck Norris... well I don't have to make it clear that the best man can't act, but let's be honest that's no reason why we watch these movies. However, it is more about the action and the martial arts of mister Norris and in this regard this film delivers. I cite the last confrontation between Norris and Soon-Tek Oh as an example. BTW that Soon-Tek Oh I thought was brilliant in this movie, he played a very “over the top” sadistic bad guy and I loved every second he was on display. The rest of the cast does a decent job but nothing as memorable as Tek Oh.

The whole POW thing and the Vietnam element always interests me in films (eg Rambo) and I found this very well applied here, the scene with the rat for example is very memorable. All in all there are definitely better 80's action movies out there but as said this was definitely entertaining, and as far as I'm concerned better than the first part in the MIA movies (this is actually the first but let's keep the release of the movies). Definitely recommended for fans of this genre.

3.5 *
