De Schippers van de Kameleon plot

1958. The twins Sietse and Hielke live in the Frisian village of Lenten, on a large lake. The two rascals often stare for hours at the ships passing by. When their father, blacksmith Klinkhamer, can buy a boat, the two boys' dream comes true. However, the sloop does not have an engine yet. When Sietse and Hielke save the doctor's life during a terrible thunderstorm, they receive a motorcycle as a gift. They call their new pride 'The Chameleon' and in their speedboat the twins sail into all kinds of adventures.

Fortunately not annoying.

Setting of the village was good, looked nice. Acting was decent. Some scenes were quite exciting. I actually had a lot of fun with this movie. 3.0

I think this is a fun movie for kids. It had to get going a bit, but beyond that I found the adventures entertaining. A well-established old-fashioned 50s/60s atmosphere, when the difference between farmer and city dweller was still huge and the manners and ways of living were completely different (more respect for authority, no TV but playing outside and being closer to nature). The boys also get a bit of coming of age, so everything has been thought of. I found part 2 just a bit more fun and better put together.

Minuses: accents of the actors come from all over the Netherlands and the peanut butter commercial is very annoying.

Mme.

This is a reasonable youth film from Dutch soil. The twins look nice for the picture, but their acting is indeed quite mediocre. In addition, the film is often visually not too good and it sometimes gets boring too quickly.

Sometimes there are some more stylish scenes here and there, but in general this is not a very good film. The tornado pieces were actually the best visually, and that says it all. For the rest a lot of wooden acting in general.

Sometimes surprisingly fresh, and a story that manages to captivate you, but nowhere very special. I had a great time with this.
