Pffffff.

Long limped, but today some space and finally set it up. It turned out later that it really wasn't for me. Thought it was an endlessly boring affair that, in an unconvincing way, tries to bring the same prison nonsense again.

Tahar Rahim's metamorphosis didn't really work for me either. A complete schlemiel who works his way up to a criminal miracle in 6 years in prison. It is understandable that Audiard stretches 150 minutes for that, because the road that Rahim has to travel is also very long, but it all feels rather lax and forced.

Visually not very exciting either. Fairly grim shot, that's for sure, but the looser camera work, the desaturated colors and the "realistic" camera work don't immediately make it a grim film. I also found music far from striking, acting is nice, but playing a criminal is just about the easiest thing an actor should ever do, I think.

The problem with this film is that you've actually seen it after 15 minutes. The rest is more story development, but it just brings nothing new for 135 minutes. That's not exactly my kind of cinema. Found it exhausting, unbelievable and annoying.

1.0*

Un prohpète is a fairly hard and raw prison film about a young man who has a hard time in jail. He is requisitioned by a Corsican mafia gang that rules within the prison walls. Saying no is absolutely not an option and he soon finds out. To survive, he has to play the game.

Well done and sometimes explicit hard scenes. Well acted too. The first hour is especially interesting. After that, it watered down a bit and the film became repetitive. The film also seems a bit too long to stay interesting until the end. Mainly thanks to the first part and the grim setting a very narrow 3.5*, but there was a lot more in it.

"A Prophet" is a film that must be seen and enjoyed. An impressive and unique drama from "Jacques Audiard", a respected contemporary French director who has gained a high position for himself with this film. The movie "A Prophet" is a lasting movie with no expiration date. The sequence of killing "Rib" is a masterpiece and unmatched. "Tahar Rahim's" performance in the role of "Malik Al Jabna" is unique and deserved to receive the best actor Caesar, but the other masterpiece of the film belongs to "Niels Arstrup" in the role of "Cesar Luciani". A subtle and powerful game that cannot be found in the current cinema. It shows such power, strength and decline that you will be amazed. This film tells the story of the impact of the environment and society on the occurrence of violence and the rise to power of a cowardly youth. French contemporary cinema is respected and praised, and the south of France plays an effective role in French contemporary cinema. The island of Corsica is in the south of France, and the film's reference to "Corsicans" refers to the Italians living on that island.
