"A young woman fights Spanish Conquistadors to protect her people."

Mexico, the 16th century. While the Spaniards take advantage of the infighting and wars between the Indian empires and the fact that the Indians see them as gods, Erendira, a young Tarascan woman, takes on the Spaniards. She steals a horse and gains the respect of her tribe's leaders.
