What a wonderful and for the time certainly smooth film this is! That granny is perfectly cast and the film is also shot very atmospheric! The colors really splash off your screen with the Blu-ray version and the film is and remains very entertaining in its design.

The playing time is just right and the story is nicely presented, much better than in the remake, but that should be clear.

Vote was already at 3.5 when I saw the film for the first time 10 years ago, but now I'm going a little higher.

Wonderful film, where I clearly fall into the camp of the users who prefer this version over the remake. Alec Guinness is amazingly unrecognizable (and a lot of fun), but Katie Johnson steals the show - she really does give the impression that she has no idea what's going on around her, so it seems like what she's saying is in the script afterwards recorded instead of the other way around. The creepy Herbert Lom accent sometimes reminds me of Yul Brynner's. A nice dark comedy; too bad the colors on my Ealing DVD aren't quite perfect, just not particularly pleasant to look at.

Black English humor written by an American! To be honest, I've never seen the movie. Or it must have been a really long time ago. I think the title is a bit strange, but maybe she didn't want to give away too much, because you can't say very much about the plot. Okay a bunch of bank robbers rent a room from an old lady who at first glance seems quite naive, but isn't. If something comes out then they have to get rid of her and that is not easy, because who is going to kill her What happens next is just made fun. And this goes on until the end. I'm just not quite sure if they should have made this last Earl film in color. Perhaps it would have been more fun to watch it in black and white. It was recently shot in 4K with two image formats. Perhaps the black and white version should also have been included, but you can also remove the colors yourself. Color adds nothing to this film. I haven't seen the remake yet, but I didn't think the trailer was that great, so let's leave it at this movie from 1955.
