The Garden plot

After the devastating riots in Los Angeles in 1992, projects were started to make South Central a more habitable part of the city. One of the newly developed projects was a 14-hectare city garden in the middle of the deprived area. This was the beginning of a small miracle that the gardeners of South Central have created, growing their own food and establishing a new community. Now bulldozers threaten to flatten the garden. A powerful project developer wants to build department stores there.
