Lizzie plot

"Which girl was she?"

Elizabeth Richmond suffers from recurring headaches and trouble sleeping. She gets threatening letters signed by one Lizzie, but she doesn't know anyone by that name. As her mental condition deteriorates, she goes to Dr. Neil Wright, who hypnotizes her. Deep in her subconscious, Dr. Wright identifies three personalities: the shy Elizabeth, as everyone knows her; Lizzie, wild as her mother and the gentle Beth, as she should have been. Wright must try to keep Beth's personality alone.

This is a somewhat unusual film by Hugo Haas, I was also surprised by the theme of multiple personalities in such an old film.

Eleanor Parker does an excellent job as Elizabeth and she also manages to portray her alter ego strongly.

Hogo Haas once again plays a supporting role in his own film, and as always it is the role of a caring good guy, which he always does with full conviction.

The film is decent, not a masterpiece but certainly more than adequate.
