Certainly more entertaining than the 94 version, and livelier, more extensive, more fun, etc. I also liked Jo in this film much more than Winona Ryder put him down.

Katharine Hepburn just plays this role much better. Emotionally, I was missing something. The love relationships seemed a little less to me. But the whole picture is absolutely good!

Alcott's semi-autobiographical story about the daily worries of four sisters during the American Civil War has been filmed many times. Not surprising, because despite its advanced age, the story is indestructible. A bit moralizing perhaps and sometimes a bit too sentimental, but still. It is and remains a strong story with a charming image of the life and behavior of people in the middle of the 19th century, here and there "pretty" with the necessary emotions. This is probably also part of that time, when people - much more than now - were satisfied with little and could enjoy small things.

In the past I have not only read the book, but also seen all the film adaptations with the exception of this original version from 1933. Although I almost know the story by heart, this film also managed to fascinate me. It is definitely equivalent to the 1949 version and better than the later film adaptations. That is mainly a merit of Katharine Hepburn, who put herself on the map with this interpretation at the time. Great work also by director George Cukor, a man who in my experience guarantees entertaining films

The well-known story based on the semi-autobiographical book by Louisa May Alcott. Not the first film adaptation and certainly not the last. Katherine Hepburn is clearly living it up as Jo March. The four sisters are full of life and grow up with their mother around the American Civil War, as a result of which the family money has almost disappeared and father is not home for a long time. They grow up with only the love for each other.

A coming of age story in which the four sisters seem like children, but soon become 'little women'. The drama is typical Hollywood, but with a good cast this is quite fun. The story is strong enough and Hepburn in particular pulls the whole thing up. A comparison was soon made with other versions, of course, which could also count on big names and won many film prizes. I am mainly a fan of the Greta Gerwig version, but this film from 1933 can also be reassured.
