La Zizanie plot
The mayor is an ingenious inventor and knows how to make his machines in his own factory and sell it to the Japanese. However, it is a very large order and due to a setback he will have to accommodate the noisy factory day and night in his home. His wife doesn't like this, and he's just before the re-election.

When Louis de Funès breathed his last in '83, his death was a great loss to the popular French film comedy. But the man did not leave without further ado. He has left his audience about one hundred and forty crazy pictures in which he invariably profiled himself as the most neurotic hothead of French film. Louis de Funès was active from the 1940s. Many de Funès films became blockbusters: Les Aventures De Rabbi Jacob, L'Aille Ou La Cuisse, the six Gendarme stories, L'Avare... La Zizanie was also a direct hit and attracted a lot of people because of the equal combination de Funès and Annie Girardot. Claude Zidi was responsible for the direction, who, together with de Funès, also shot the more successful Michelin parody L'Aille Ou La Cuisse. Film critics at the time claimed that La Zizanie was clearly cobbled together way too quickly to be released during the Easter holidays. Although this is certainly not the best film in his list of achievements, the French pelvic puller is in absolute top form...

I used to like this movie, but rewatching it is disappointing. De Funès had just had 2 heart attacks and had to slow down with his tantrums and we miss them here. In addition, many gags are just off in terms of timing or are just too bland. Still nice for a drizzly evening, but this is just a bit too rippling.

I wasn't aware of this but what a great comedy this is. Kolderesk, over the top… In terms of theme, it really reflects the zeitgeist of the late 1970s: the rise of the environmental movement and attention is also paid to the place of women in marriage and society. Fortunately, that socially critical theme is presented with a joke, which makes it all very digestible. The humor of the whole event comes first. Louis de Funès and Annie Girardot are very complementary here as a film couple.
