Araragi is a reclusive college student who one day comes face to face with a vampire in desperate need of blood. After the initial shock, he decides to help the vampire and sacrifices himself. When Araragi regains consciousness, he has also become a vampire, though he is promised that he can become human again if he defeats a trio of vampire hunters.
