Ja Rule is a poor man's Ludacris.

Too bad this movie didn't have an Asian action director. They are rarely better in terms of scenario, but have just a little more eye for the action. Don Michael Paul (has a great profile picture on IMDb.) is a crappy director and screenwriter. Quite strange also how unnecessarily complicated the scenario is. The intro is hilarious with Ja Rule flying out of the car, but it is of little use and after that you get a kind of The Rock for the retarded with a touch of Die Hard and an attempt to hook up to the Matrix hype. It's funny at times, but it's a shame that not even a single action scene is worth it. It is badly turned and mounted.

Only reason to watch this one is in this corona time: Virtual Movie Theater, with this you can watch the movie with your friends at the same time while talking about the movie. It is not advisable with a good film because then you would rather that everyone is quiet. But with a film like this, a bit of fun is what pulls you through the film.

1.5 stars.

Half Past Dead is an obvious B-movie as we are used to at Seagal rather quickly. Considering this, it's not that bad.
