La Figure de Proue plot

A ship captain travels the world chasing a dream: he has fallen in love with the figure that adorns the prow of his ship. He traverses the world in search of the woman who resembles this sculpture. He meets a lady in a harbor with whom he has a short-lived relationship but leaves her in the lurch. It is only when he learns that he has become a father that he decides to return.
