Jake Davis is a sick crew member of a steamboat. Dropped off at a rubber plantation on Oraka Island to recover, he befriends Doc and Margaret "Maggie" Landis, who falls in love with him. Jake has been roaming the world ever since he's been accused of gun smuggling. On the island, Jake also gets to know the blond, lively and attractive nightclub singer Coal, who always attracts a large audience at her performances.
