Wilde Salomé plot

Wilde Salome is about a performance of Oscar Wilde's play Salome from 1896. The film will tell about the performance of the play (in LA) as well as the events behind the scenes. The prince Herod Antipas asks his stepdaughter Salome to dance for him at a party. In return, she may demand from him whatever she pleases. She agrees to dance the dance of the seven veils and demands, partly at the instigation of her mother Herodias, the head of John the Baptist (Jokanaan).

Where did I give my oath? I am sure a misfortune will happen

Pacino has done a tremendous job with Salome - the film, the play, and this more or less making of, and it is definitely worth seeing the backgrounds. Best in the order of film, then documentary, because then I think the whole thing comes into its own better and the short introduction to the life of Oscar Wilde fits in better - but also, the fragments that you see here as a summary somehow come across more as a stage-like setting than the film, and in that way it really adds something beyond the background.

Too bad Pacino so often blows his own trumpet. It really detracts from the experience.
