This movie is the sequel to The Librarian: Quest for the Spear. This time, librarian-cum-adventurer Flynn Carsen (Noah Wyle) sets out in search of King Solomon's mines deep in the African continent. But there are more privateers on the coast. The question is whether Flynn can bring this to a successful conclusion.

Tasteless snack.

Just like part one, still with a wink, but slightly less successful humor. The story is similar, Flynn again has a woman by his side and the special effects are even worse than in the first part. You will also see the badguy coming again after a while. But all in all, it's not annoying for once.

2.0*

I love adventure movies. What better way of escapism than a film in which one experience follows another? I have often complained that too few adventure films have been made since the 1980s. And certainly not enough good ones. So I'm happy with the attempt, less happy with the result.

The Librarian series was made for television. You can see that in everything. So you should immediately lower your default. And that is really necessary if you do not want to die in annoyances. The sfx suffers from the limited budget and the actors are nice for TV, but not good enough to carry a movie. Also the plot, the dialogues and really all events are so poorly developed that it is quite a task at times to keep watching. You know in advance that it's stolen (from Indiana Jones in particular) and that it's utterly clichéd (especially if you've already seen part 1). It's also more of all the flaws together. Individually I'd like to forgive them, but now it's a bit too much of the bad.

It's a shame because the tone is good and part 2 is also as adventurous as it can be. An inevitable comparison with part 1, tells us that this film is slightly less in everything and the first part was not really great. And so these attempts in the genre, which I'm happy with in itself, are not again. Unfortunately. 2.5 stars. And that is with good will.

This sequel is a clear rip-off of "Indiana Jones" with a dash of "Allan Quartermain".

Noah Wyle is once again librarian Flynn Carsen, who goes after a historic relic for the second time. Once again, it threatens to fall into the wrong hands, after which he gets help from Emily Davenport (Gabrielle Anwar) and sets out to search for King Solomon's mines, deep in the African continent.

Technically an improvement on "The Librarian: Quest for the Spear (2004)" and the story is also quite nice, but the whole thing looks just a bit too cheap and it lacks an appealing villain. The supporting actors also have less charisma than their colleagues in the original.
