A local rescue team returns her to the cave system she managed to escape from in hopes of finding some survivors with her help. Once they arrive, they are faced with the same nightmare as before.

The surprise is of course already a bit gone when you have seen the first part. This sequel is less exciting and claustrophobic, and uses loud noises more to create cheap jump scares. There are some bloody kills in this film, but the blood is colored way too light red. The crawlers still look very good. It's a shame that the ending of the previous film is simply undone, an ending that was surprising.
By the way, it's completely illogical that the traumatized victim from the first movie is just dragged back into those subterranean caves by that crazy sheriff.
Nice that Natalie Mendoza is back as Juno, the best character from the first part! The end of the film seems to be leading up to a third part. Bring it on, I'd say. But since this part is from 2009, that plan doesn't seem to have gone through.

"No Juno, Sarah is your friend!"
Why, she left her for dead in the previous part, didn't she? Juno should have left Sarah hanging on the abyss. She deserved that! Also strange that three women can't bring out a man (the sheriff).

The Descent: Part 2 is a film with a claustrophobic horror scenario at the end. Same as part 1. So much the same that it almost turns out to be a copy. The choices made in the first fifteen minutes of the film actually make no sense at all. Unnecessary movie this.
