Toy Story 3 plot

"No toy gets left behind."

When Andy grows up and goes to college, Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz (Tim Allen) and the rest of their toy friends end up at Sunnyside Daycare. This seems like a cosy place at first, led by the friendly toy bear Lotso (Ned Beatty). But, all is not as it seems as the toys realise that Lotso may not be so friendly after all.

It doesn't happen often, but when you put part 3 on the market and it turns out that this third part scores even better than the 2 more than decent previous ones, then you have created a topper! Quite difficult with the already known concept and yet the makers succeed in creating an original, amusing and exciting adventure.

Where part 2 got a bit naughtier, people go completely crazy here in the horror house of Sunshine and later on the garbage dump. This part focuses on rejection and what it can do to someone. It's a theme that occasionally reappears in animated films such as The secret life of pets with that psycho killer rabbit. Toy Story 3 also has its nostalgic moments: the scene between Andy and that girl was very touching: it is always very nice as a young father to play with your children with your old toys. Sometimes you wish you could go back to your childhood. This movie sort of does that...

The new characters are great. The new world of Sunshine is a revelation and each new character has its qualities. And I don't know why, but I thought that baby was super scary. Frightening how that baby doll comes to life, the devil ... a little too close to reality I think, something other than a living plush animal, dino or telephone.

Woody remains great and Hanks' voice is also made for him. Difficult to pick a favorite character. They are all fantastic and it is precisely this chemistry that has made Toy story (3) such a success for young and old alike. Top!

Once again, attention has been paid to really the smallest details. Craftsmanship, very good.

Now that Andy [John Morris] is about to move to a campus, the question arises as to what to do with his toys. Woody [Tom Hanks], Buzz Lightyear [Tim Allen] and their toy friends end up at a daycare center expecting to receive the same loving attention Andy always gave them. Once there, the mischievous pink teddy bear Lotso [Ned Beatty] trickes them into an area where riotous children handle their toys roughly. Time to escape, then, in the hope that Andy will be able to give them a better destination. The new characters don't add much (the jokes around Ken [Michael Keaton] and Barbie [Jodi Benson] are quite stale) and the escape adventure contains only a handful of nice ideas (including a 'reset' from Buzz), but the denouement proves that these franchise still has a good dose of magic and will give many viewers a big lump in the throat.
