The Stand at Apache River plot
Sheriff Lane Dakota arrests Greiner, who is suspected of robbery, just after being injured in an ambush by the Apaches. Dakota takes Greiner to the Apache River outpost. At the outpost, Dakota encounters city girl Valerie Kendrick on her way to her betrothed and Army Colonel Morsby with his disgruntled wife and their hired help. The next morning, a seemingly peaceful group of Apaches from a reservation visit the outpost, but Morsby, who has had bad experiences with Native Americans in the past, plans to shoot first and then talk.
