Don Pablo Salazar steals a fortune in jewelry from a Mexican Indian tribe, and a witch doctor puts a curse on the stolen jewelry, which works until they get back. Years later, American businessman Breen Mathews promises to return the jewels to the heirs after Luis, Don Pablo's son, is murdered. Breen travels to Topaz, where he hopes to find the only remaining heiress Teresa. Louisa, Teresa's daughter, is at odds with some dubious fellow villagers, led by saloon owner Barnum and "Hanging Judge" Cole, who are after the jewels.
