When Yamanaka is released in chaotic post-war Japan and tries to find a normal job in Hiroshima, he soon clashes with a local Yakuza gang. A rival gang comes to his aid and takes him into the family. However, this comes with complete devotion to the family. Yamanaka falls in love but soon realizes that he will never live a normal life again.
