University student Shiyori just broke up with her boyfriend. To mend the broken heart, her friend Aiko invites her to visit the remote hot springs of Ashikari. However, the village is full of scarecrows with only one leg and the atmosphere is simply ominous. At night, the two girls argue about Shiyori's ex. Shiyori angrily walks away and throws her cell phone into the local waterfall, hoping she can forget about it once and for all. She returns to her room alone and hears another cell phone ring. When she picks up, she hears a panicked voice warning her to leave the village as soon as possible, lest she fall prey to the villagers' bizarre rituals.
