"Get ready... to rage against evil."
A collection of six animated shorts set between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. In "Have I Got a Story for You," an impromptu encounter between Batman and a group of youngsters gives each child a different idea of Batman. In "Crossfire", Gotham's police must drop their suspicions about Batman when she comes under fire from some mobsters. "Field Test" showcases the large arsenal of weapons Batman has at his disposal, but also shows that there are even things he doesn't do to get justice. In "In the Darkness Dwells", Batman takes on Killer Croc, a disfigured crook who even turns monstrous when The Scarecrow returns with his fear venom. "Working through Pain" centers on Bruce Wayne's training methods, passed on to him by a mysterious and exotic Native American woman, Cassandra, to help him cope with the physical and spiritual consequences of his actions. And "Dead Shot" features a hit man whose love of guns and disrespect for people crossed boundaries that are too far for even Batman.

Very nice.
Although I don't think every movie is great, Batman: Gotham Knight offers a successful variation on the world's most famous bat man.
Numbers 2 and 6 stand head and shoulders above the rest in my opinion. They exude the most Batman. I also like the drawing style, music, colors and animation best in these films.
Numbers 1 and 3 appealed to me a lot less. The narrative style of number 1 is nice, but I think the look is really ugly. However, that does not detract from the creative and original effect.
Kevin Conroy is of course the best possible voice for Batman, but the other voices are also solidly cast. Deadshot's voice (heard in short film 6) in particular is excellently cast.
Batman: Gotham Knight is a welcome and original entry into the Batman universe. The different styles offer something for everyone (although the tone usually harbors the same grimness) and the playing time flies by.

I mainly know Batman from the movies and vaguely from the TV series. This animation compilation finally reminds me that the original is a comic. The fact that the 6 short films have their own style is not so bad. After all, Batman has had more different looks over the years. From the colorful Adam West to the Gothic Burton version to the quasi-ninja style of Christian Bale. And for once, Batman takes center stage. This is mainly due to the lack of real enemies of importance and peripheral characters such as Gordon or Alfred also remain in the background here. The result is a varied image of the well-known DC superhero. Not always interesting, perhaps due to the lack of a good opponent and story. But the images are beautiful and Batman is now finally a real action hero and not a rich man who dresses up to help people. It is not a film that will attract a large audience, but it is certainly a must for Batman fans.

Nice review.
But I actually kind of expected that, even though a similar project (with HIghlander) was a lot less successful. On the other hand, Batman can handle himself in anime land, as it turns out. With the help of studios like 4°C, IG and Madhouse, that is not that difficult of course, they know how to tackle projects like this.
The first and fourth shorts are by far the most fun, just the coolest styles. The rest is a bit more classic, but it's nice that none of the shorts fall below the standard. It's all at least watchable, with some serious highlights here and there.
I have to say that despite the US production creds, I watched that film with the Japanese dub. That probably saves half a point, but I don't see why I would bother with EN dubs with a film like this. Ultimately, the stories themselves are American, but all the creative work comes from Japan.
