Sozdar, She Who Lives Her Promise plot

'Sozdar, She Who Lives Her Promise' paints a candid picture of the backgrounds and motivations of Nuriye Kesbir, a Kurdish woman and one of the leaders of the Kurdish resistance movement PKK. Her decisiveness and stubbornness already manifested themselves when she refused to be married off as a twelve-year-old girl. After her native village was destroyed and many fellow sufferers were persecuted and killed, Nuriye Kesbir decided that there was no room in her life for marriage or family. She joined the PKK in 1987 and became one of the leaders and champion of women's rights. In 2001 she left the mountains for the Netherlands to speak with European Kurds about women's emancipation. However, she was arrested and imprisoned at Schiphol, pending possible deportation to Turkey.
