A French millionaire blackmails Jacques and instructs him to steal the "Great Mogul", a diamond from an exhibition in Rome. Jacques, assisted by André, runs a private detective agency and through his connections manages to find two of the most experienced men in theft. They expertly study the replicas of the safe, alarm system and building plan. In the end, they steal the stone and return to Paris. There, the millionaire's mistress and the butler make off with the diamond, unknowingly that the real "Mogul" is safely guarded in a vault in the basement of the building, where the stone was allegedly on display.
