Seedless film, which is mainly calm, and sometimes a bit chaotic, but not in a positive sense. I liked the premise, although it's a bit contrived to post a character in front of a school and then arrange it in such a way that interesting things start happening all of a sudden. Furthermore, it is mainly the interpretation that makes Caos Calmo such a thirteen-in-a-dozen arthouse film. The main character is still interesting, but remains quite distant. The role of that girl, Claudia, is poorly written and equally unconvincing. The script contains too many supposedly atypical incidents (just so typical of the mediocre art house film) such as the recurring scenes with the boy with trisomy 21 and the lady with the dog. The music twists in all directions, is started way too abruptly with a volume that is too high. And then at the end a sex scene suddenly falls from the sky, narratively a huge break in style if you ask me, unless this has to represent the chaos. Caos Calmo isn't bad as a film, I wasn't bored either, but it is a good product that in no way can follow in the footsteps of the Italian classics.

Tender film about experiencing grief, but also very strong in observing people with their actions.

Director does an excellent job and the actors are just fabulous.

A bit slow, but that's how it should be in this genre where some thinking is required and there is still something to experience on a psychological level.

Small warm film about a widower who has to educate his school-age child. Not a film in which a lot happens, but it should have those small endearing moments between father and daughter. Pieter turns his whole life upside down and waits all day in front of the school gate until his daughter has finished school. As a businessman he had no time for this and today the vicissitudes at work seem insignificant and a far cry from his bedside show.

He discovers a new world with new characters and sees what really matters in life, although the gossip of some mommies could be stolen from him. He meets new people superficially and on the first day of school, he strikes with amazement at the rush of parents who fill the square when the prom is going on. The question is whether this lifestyle is mentally and financially feasible...

The merger could also be stolen from me and I was completely immersed in the story and bond between father and daughter. Here and there I think Grimaldi made wrong choices. The spaghetti dinner at the neighbor's could be further elaborated and the mysterious Jolanda could also come forward even more prominently, although that superficiality also gives the film and life quite a bit of color. Finally, it was difficult for me to place the free scene and I thought that the opening scene should not necessarily be returned to.
