Mme.

Not a very special film by Miller, who clearly uses the same style here as in Sin City . Only that Tarantino and Rodriguez are no longer in the party is only somewhat clear, because this is pure Miller. That doesn't mean it's better right away.

A YouTube channel criticized Jackson's villainy, and I question that. I thought he was the best in the whole movie, a big bright spot in the acting. A good cast, but wooden performances from the rest. Mendes may look handsome, and I can't grumble about Paulson and Lauria either.

However, there is some woodiness here and there in Macht, but it is mainly Johansson who plays far below par here. She doesn't really fit this role here either. Where this film also fails a bit is the action. Where is that action? Some slapstick elements here and there and a bombastic but too short finale. More bullets would have done well.

I still like that Miller style. Again like you've landed right in a comic book. Although it's not as serious and crude as Sin City, more with humor and some ridiculous slapstick elements. The humor occasionally works fortunately, only Miller sometimes goes too far over the red line.

Other than that, not so bad, but not very good either. Nice to see, those who like the style might appreciate this. But don't expect a full-blown action movie.

We have to have people over more often. I like this.

As a fan of Sin City, and especially the style, put aside all the criticisms and mediocre reviews to give it a try.

What stands out is a stunningly beautiful visual style. Where Sin City looked a bit 'gritty', and A dame to kill for too slick, the visual style of The Spirit stands out as in-between and as very beautiful. The film is a direct hit in that respect, with the many eye candy as a nice extra. Johansson and Mendes get the most attention, but King can certainly be mentioned and I personally like Stana Katic and Paz Vega too.

The story comes across quite confused, partly due to sometimes blurry and incoherent flashbacks. Not that this is a big problem by the way, the funny atmosphere that sometimes tends to the bland is. In addition, Macht is not really able to add anything extra to his role, except for the smooth ladiesmen. It is striking that even in this not special story with sometimes very mediocre jokes, Jackson still comes out as the best and even succeeds in a few jokes.

Visually, The Spirit succeeds wonderfully, but has to acknowledge its superiority in both Sin City's in terms of story and tone, purely because the 'funny' over the top atmosphere is not enough. Well, at least not for me. The final verdict is therefore, nice for once and maybe again in a few years. Although the film does not deserve a high score, it should be slightly higher than now.
