A while ago I saw Step Up (2006), a very smooth and nice dance film, which I liked very much. Assuming this was a sequel, I also ventured into this film. That was quite disappointing. Apart from the mediocre acting, I have to admit that I'm not a fan of street dancing and the accompanying music. Granted it looks spectacular and acrobatic, but it's not my thing.

And that hassle in the pouring rain. Who would come up with such an anticlimax?

“That's not how we do it. This ain't High School Musical!”

Fair second part. The story is predictable again and the dance scenes look a bit uninspired. Except for the last scene in the rain. The two male protagonists are also very mediocre, but fortunately Briana Evigan does well and manages to carry the film admirably. And I like the somewhat raw and gray atmosphere, but unfortunately too little is done with it. If the dance work is also mediocre, there is little left of the film. Fortunately, the last part makes up for it.

dance 2.

Same level a bit as part 1, although I think this is just a bit better. It's all smoother and I got through it even easier. Although the clichés keep coming back again and again, the film is once again very predictable.

The tone is a bit lighter and less dirty than part 1. The real street atmosphere has been put back in the bag, giving way to a high-school atmosphere. Evigan does steal the show a bit, especially because her looks are just top notch. That voice was also very catchy, hoarse but therefore very catchy.

The film seemed to get a pass for me for a while, but then the sloppiness started to shimmer through it a bit. Scene in which Hoffman is beaten up and Evigan is no longer allowed to see is actually forgotten within 30 seconds. Even when they go to the streets in the final phase, the dance steps seem to have fallen from the sky. Didn't she fail last time they danced together?

Very smooth, but quite sloppy unfortunately. Chu should have cut or expanded a bit here and there. Evigan is a beautiful figure and the enthusiasm seems to splash from her. The final phase in the rain also looks quite flashy, reminded me a bit of Michael Bay's style. But without explosions.

In the end, it was fun too. But this is still far from good.
