Bertal is the director and pacesetter of a large Parisian theatre. He is known for his cynicism. One day, during the performance of Macbeth, he is murdered in his box. Sigurd, an itinerant stage actor, is the prime suspect because he previously had an altercation with Bertal. But is he really the killer?
