The Hills Have Eyes plot

"A nice American family. They didn't want to kill. But they didn't want to die."

The Carter family heads to California with their caravan. Father Bob first wants to visit some old silver mines in a remote desert area. The domain is deserted. When army jets suddenly burst overhead, they suspect they are near a US Air Force test base. The confusion causes the Carters' vehicle to run off the track, leaving the party hopelessly stuck. Moments later, the area turns out to be inhabited after all. However, the inhabitants appear to be unfamiliar with modern society and behave like greedy animals.

The acting was in a way that didn't appeal to me. I thought it was all too distant. Every once in a while, something that should have been scary was just plain laughable. For me, this "horror" film misses the mark.

Nice film in which a family travels with their car and caravan to the beach in the desert. A rather simple setup, but fortunately the film does not last too long. The setting, camera work and soundtrack certainly add to the tension. This early Wes Craven film is quite violent here and there.
