Til Døden Os Skiller (2007)

Reasonable comedy that is fun to watch.

During the first half of the film you are always on Jan's side, even though he sometimes does crazy bizarre things. But then the film takes a turn and you have less and less empathy for Jan.

Because the film also has some bad moments, I thought a 3 was high enough.

Very mediocre unbalanced comedy of Danish origin. However, it started very well and I thought the plot was quite OK with partner abuse and tensions at work. Now, that Jan was not a pleasant character from the start. No matter how difficult it is for you at home, we understand that, but you still do not treat your staff or customers this way. That's totally disrespectful.

You may laugh at that partner abuse, but it is still an enormous taboo. Would have liked to see this developed a bit further. Even in a light-hearted way. It's a shame that the atmosphere and film change from the moment the two guys enter the Jan home. Jan is indeed a bigger jerk than previously thought and literally holds his wife captive so that she became manic-depressive.

Suddenly she spreads her wings and the plot becomes very weak, predictable and unbelievable. The reunion at the end also really hits the spot. A solid 3.0* was certainly possible, but this melted like snow in the sun the further the film evolved.

So, few votes. I stumbled upon this by chance through Netflix. Luckily, because I had quite a bit of fun with this, especially thanks to the character Jan. Quite unfathomable: one moment pitiful, then irritating, or unintentionally funny and with autistic and narcissistic traits.

Unfortunately, there are less successful moments such as the fact that those two guys move into his house. But in general terms, I like the (sometimes subtle) humor. Going to work at the competitor of all places (the bridge). And think (or make others think?) that you are in charge of the bridge because you sit in the toll booth. 3.5*, benefit of the doubt.
