The Incredible Journey of Doctor Meg Laurel plot

In the 1930s, a female doctor returns to her hometown in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia, after spending time in the big city with the intention of imparting modern medical care to the poor and ill-educated population. However, she then has to compete with the local medicine woman who firmly believes in her own remedies and does not trust the doctor with her urban methods.
