Matthew Bennell lives in San Francisco and gets more and more complaints from his friends about their own families who seem to be different. When Matthew asks about it again a while later, his friends seem to remember nothing of their complaints. Matthew learns that there are aliens on Earth, but who can he trust?

Revised on Arrow's awesome blu-ray. Invasion of the Body Snatchers is one of the best remakes ever made, I think together with The Thing and The Fly the best remake ever made. The characters, the atmosphere, the soundtrack, the effects, that ending, Invasion has a lot of memorable things to offer. Rarely do films get under the skin like this classic. Especially the first hour is masterful. Unfortunately, towards the end, the film gets a bit noisy at times, which is a shame as Kaufman shows that he can handle calmness very well.

Bit surprised at the high score. A few days ago I was blown away by the original, and now watched this one. Huge difference in quality, you really notice that this version is a characteristic remake that cannot match the original as so often, but it is full of winks to that film. Many details are hardly worked out here, so you actually have to see the original to understand them, and the plotholes from the original have not been eliminated here either. If in doubt, choose Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) (thick 4*), this version from 1978 is nothing more and nothing less than a lesser remake of it. If I would not have seen the original I would have given this 3*, but in comparison you notice that this could be much better. Spacious 2.5* / small 3*.

Nice to see Donald Sutherland (father of Kiefer and twin sister Rachel) again in one of his films. I have always had a high regard for the man as an actor and you can see why in this film. Despite the fact that the film is already about 42 years old, I did not find the age disturbing. Ok, at that time they didn't have computers to spice up the movie (CGI) but that's definitely not a problem here, at least not for me.
The story is a little stiff compared to today's pace, but that didn't spoil my fun. And the ending......fantastic and shivering!
A large 7 for story, set and actors.
