Saffo, Venere di Lesbo plot

"She stormed the battlements of love and war!"

Ancient Greece: The civil servant Faone seeks shelter in the temple of Aphrodite and falls in love with the beautiful priestess Saffo. In a conflict with Iperbio, the chief of the guards, Faone is arrested but with a clever ruse he manages to escape. After overthrowing the cruel tyrant Melancro, our hero gives Iperbio what he deserves in a dramatic and dangerous duel. Faone returns to Mitilene Island with Saffo, who has left the religious order of virgin priestesses to marry the man she loves. They are welcomed by the population.
