When Andy and Elizabeth buy a ranch in Vermont, they have no idea of the difficulties that await them. Andy has quit his job as a sports journalist and plans to use the tranquility of the countryside to write a novel. From the moment the movers lose their way with the household effects, peace is over. From a maniacal mailman to a corpse buried in the garden, Andy becomes distracted by the village and its strange inhabitants. His efforts to write a novel are torture, especially when Elizabeth becomes a successful children's author.
