"She's turning his house into a home...hers!"
When his fiancée Becky says no to his marriage proposal, and thus to the house he built for her, the architect Newton Davis takes it badly. Sometime later, an affair with the imaginative waitress Gwen spirals out of control when she tracks down his dream home and moves in without his knowledge. Then she informs the whole town that she and Newton are married. Everyone in her new environment falls for her, including Newton's parents, while Becky shows a new interest in Newton. Newton soon sees the benefits of this situation, and convinces Gwen that the deception can benefit both of them.

cringing. Goldie has a nice figure and that's about it. I still lasted 1.5 hours before I switched to another network. Have to catch up. I'll call mental health tomorrow.

A typical what you see is what you get film, a predictable story but, in my opinion, performed in an entertaining way.
The house he has built looks very attractive, in my mind I would have liked to move in here myself! Nice quiet area and a real holiday feeling. 
Steve & Goldie are also having a good time together, but the last grab and bite 20 minutes got a little too hectic.
Entertaining, atmospheric and simple.

A film of which you can actually estimate in advance what it will be. HouseSitter is a typical mind-free film that exudes the apparent simplicity of the 80s and 90s and is therefore wonderful to look away. If you have a soft spot for that, like I do, this can hardly disappoint. The film relies almost entirely on the play of Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin and luckily that combination turns out to work fine. Hawn in particular knows how to laugh a few times and plays a fairly touching character, but Martin also has some beautiful scenes (with the improvised singing as a highlight). Unfortunately Becky is a very dull character and I also noticed that the ending was a bit rushed. Other than those two negatives, I found this to be a very enjoyable comedy.
