Lights Out plot

"You were right to be afraid of the dark."

Rebecca (Teresa Palmer) thought she would leave her childhood fears behind when she started living on her own. In her youth she was never really sure of what was and what was not real when the lights went out. Her brother Martin (Gabriel Bateman) is now experiencing the same inexplicable and terrifying events she once experienced. A terrifying entity with a mysterious link to their mother, Sophie (Maria Bello), is once again present. As Rebecca gets closer to unraveling the truth, they're both unsure of their lives when the lights go out.

Not bad at all! And weird that they've never done anything like this before, because this is typical horror. You are not safe in the dark and you can protect yourself by staying in the light. Simple but effective. A scary thought of course and Lights Out made a movie of that thought. There are certainly some creepy moments in it. The gore is a bit lacking and perhaps not all seasoned horror fans will be impressed, but I think it's a nice horror film.

I won't be too hard on a few things that I don't think are right. Like Diana knocking on a door when the light is on. And in the end she suddenly seems to be more resistant to it. But other than that it's pretty good in my opinion. Diana has a rare skin disease and is extremely resistant to UV light. A fluorescent tube or halogen lamp also contains UV-A light. And even just sitting at home with the lamp on is already dangerous for people with a sun or light allergy. Fluorescent light and halogen lamps also contain UV-A. And there are even patients who can't stand a normal light bulb and are already burned from it! So is Diana. But other than that, it's just a movie of course.

Lights Out comes from a short horror film that came on the internet a few years ago. And all the more fun that I discovered the Easter Egg at the beginning of the film, which is this beautiful girl:
Lights Out .. At the beginning of the movie you see a bobble head what exactly looks like that creepy girl!

Reasonable horror that even manages to give me goosebumps every now and then.

Although the jumpscares do get a bit faint after the first two, the film still has enough scaryness left. The cast is pretty fun, Palmer plays one of the better roles I've seen of her so far. Bello does not get a lot of space, which is a pity.

And the ending of the story is a bit disappointing. A little more creativity could have resulted in a much better bouncer.
