"Everything From Spooks To Nuts!!!"
The Crooked Circle is a society of thieves and forgers who have decided to take revenge on Colonel Walters who has put one of their leaders in prison for a long time. They want to kill him that very night. Meanwhile, his own group, The Sphinx Club, is determined to protect him. The betrothed of one of the members of the latter group, Brand Osborne, is concerned that her lover will not survive the night and asks if he would like to stop. He promises to stop after the Colonel is rescued. Together with the rest of The Sphinx Club, they head to Walters' recently purchased home to await the killer.
