He turned out better than expected. Fortunately something completely different from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". The story is actually about saying goodbye/death and I really didn't expect such a heavy theme in this film.

Well, good to take with them when they show him on TV, but certainly didn't think he was bad.

Pretty drowsy.

The film does indeed get points for the visual level. Especially the toy store was a pleasure to look at. Dustin Hoffman plays a somewhat special role and he does it well, but also a bit bland.

Portman was also disappointing, I'm really used to better from her. The film has some pretty nice scenes, so you keep following the film, but it comes across as a bit rushed. Especially towards the end it seemed as if the budget had run out and they had to quickly put an end to it.

Gets points for the visuals, but in terms of story and characters it was too weak. Not quite the ideal film for children, even though it could have been better. I'm usually fine with an actor like Hoffman.

Imaginative, childlike and full of emotions. Not entirely special, but just nice to see. Taken out of the box with older children's films and rewatched. Where I never hit the emotional death of Mr. Magorium, it hit harder than ever. The most emotional thing about the entire movie, which was wonderfully supported by the musical drama. Even though the rest of the movie wasn't special, as were the characters, you get attached to Hoffman's character, who brings out the kid in him in his best way. His death is that even for someone my age still sheds a tear. And his last words are so emotionally supportive of his passing. I could therefore praise the score the most out of all the things that the film was rich in.
