Nice enough.

Children's movie, for sure. A kind of Free Willy, but in a different, for me at least, more pleasant jacket. Intertwined with the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, this is a pleasant sit.

The Scottish setting works wonders and the narrative structure also works for me in these kinds of films.

Pleasant binoculars, ideal as a snack.

Solid family fantasy film where the legend of the Loch Ness monster is used to introduce a magical water horse. First of all, a beautiful setting in the Scottish Highlands. The story, based on children's size, was also pleasant to follow. The kids really enjoyed it, as did I.

For me, like a few above by the way, it acted like a section ET and a slot with a Free Willy look. A bit scary and mysterious in the beginning when he egg hatched and the dragon is hiding. Also some funny passages and nice intermezzos with Churchill. The plot with the soldiers got off to a slow start, but at the end still had something to say.

CGI was clear, but was quite ok. Free Willy at the end was predictable, but fits the genre. Also the fact that the animals survive on the basis of a new (found) egg is a nice bonus.

I can understand why someone thinks this is a good movie. From the "daddy is gone" aspect to "the little animal becomes huge but remains sweet" to the handyman who is annoying at first and then becomes a surrogate father, it's all neatly done.

That's exactly what bothers me about this movie. It just trots on, doesn't get interesting anywhere and you can see all the events coming from a mile away. Could German submarines enter the loch? In a movie about a giant sea creature? Three guesses what's coming here...

2.5* mainly for the way the movie portrays the monster.
